They may not have been the fastest, but they had the coolest shoes!

As I wrote this morning, today was the first track meet. We went out to the aluminum bleachers at Bishop Carroll, and froze, as we watched the kids jump around nervously, and stretch and joke with each other. Then came prayer and they were off.

We waited awhile, and then Emily was called for the 75 meter hurdles. She was awesome! She didn't knock over any of them and finished in just over 17 seconds. Next came Val's mile. She did good! She beat her time from her mile last week, by 20 seconds. Then, Emily ran the 100 meter dash, Val ran the 800 and finally Emily ran the 75 meter dash. In that one, she was 1st in her heat, so when she crossed the finish line, she got to be the one to go through the ribbon. She was stoked!!!!!

Track meets can be long and tedious at times! They call your event, you are the star of the show for 17 seconds to 7 minutes, depending on the race, then you sit and wait. Forever. Well, it feels like forever at times!

But, no matter what, track is one of my favorite times. I think it is because I get to watch a lot of the kids I have gotten to see grow up. They are all rock stars in my book (blog).

Enjoy these clips of Emily in the 75 meter, and the end of Val's 800. And the shoes. The shoes are totally awesome!

Through the cold and the hot,

Love,

Michelle- track fan to the stars
P.S> Be sure to turn your speakers up !
